Realtors Guide to Building an Email List

Yikes! Instagram and Facebook have taken a vacation and are OOO until further notice. What about the following you’ve built and the connections you’ve made?

Here’s the thing: You could lose access to your social media accounts at any time. Unfortunately, there’s no way to back them up… except for building your email list.

What are you talking about?

We’re talking about collecting emails from your followers by offering something of value, that you’ll send to them via email.

For example, Coffee & Contracts has a landing page set up that offers “30 free social media post ideas.”  We give away something of value in return for the email addresses of potential new members. 

What about for real estate agents? Here are a few ideas:

Offer a free, valuable resource to potential clients

This could be a moving checklist, staging guide, FSBO guide, relocation guide, preparing your home for sale guide, CMA, buyers guide, renting vs buying guide, etc.

Offer a free, valuable resource to other agents

Don’t forget that referrals are leads, too!

Offer something of high-value: you could send out tips for agents, weekly lead generating tips, or share your favorite agent resources. Think of something that you would sign up to receive.

ABC: Always Be Collecting

When someone sends you a message for more information on a property, ask for their email address so you can send them the information there.

Have an open house? Create a sign in sheet where you collect emails. You can even put at the top of this list what you’ll be sending them. For example: “Put your email down to receive one an email per month with a market update and upcoming local events.”

Host a Live Webinar 

Grow your email list by hosting a home buyer or home seller webinar or live event.

Create a Facebook Group

Create a local Facebook Group. It doesn’t even have to be real estate related. 

Ask users to enter their email upon signing up to receive a freebie or your monthly newsletter.
